Thanksgiving Day

We have no Thanksgiving pictures to post because I have been pretty lazy with the camera lately. I am still trying to figure out where in the yard to take our Christmas card picture. I need to do it soon or all the trees will be bare. Unlike some of the crazy shoppers in the family, we were not up at the crack of dawn on Friday! We have managed to pick up a few gifts for some of our younger up and coming readers (A Thomas the Train AquaDoodle Mat and a few infant sleepers). It's okay they can't read this and I'm sure the rest of you can keep a secret! Hopefully this week will be more productive and I will post some updated photos of the family and Christmas decorations. Oh, I almost forgot, we are still waiting for the Rat Rod arrival.

THE RAT ROD

Dalton and Dad finally purchased their project! They have some work to do on it, but a rat rod is supposed to look like it is always in progress. It is a 1940 Chevy with a 1933 or 1934 front grill. The engine has already been rebuilt and only has about 200 miles since. They have already been to the DMV website checking on available personalized plates. Of course it will have firefighter plates! I think they have settled on SMKN40. We are working out the details and transport from Texas, probably after Thanksgiving.

Although my story is not as dramatic as Tara's ordeal, it was somewhat frustrating. We arrived to vote and while looking at the back of the sample ballot to ascertain which table was our sign-in area, we were of course approached by a poll worker. This was not a problem, he was just being helpful, but he had a slight odor that was enhanced by the stifling heat in the building. The woman at the sign-in table had coke bottle glasses and had to get about 3" from the page to read our names. While we were going through the formalities, the previous man asked if we were computer savvy and would one of us like to try the new electronic machine. Of course we said yes, I had read about this trial run of the machines in our local paper and was eager to see how it all worked. He went to get it ready as we were receiving our ballots. As we watched and waited, 3 or 4 other poll workers joined him at the machine and all appeared to be somewhat at a loss of how to operate the machine. The co

I' ll Drink to That!

Kevin and I went on a wine tasting tour with the local Lion's club this past Saturday (he's now a member). They chartered a bus and we went to 5 different wineries in Paso Robles. I have never really cared much for wine, but we learned that there are some that we both really liked. I discovered the sweeter type dessert wines are my favorites and that the more you let a wine sit and "breathe" the better the flavor gets. We had a great time with a lot of great people! You can definitely sign us up for the next trip. I am adding some of my favorites to my Christmas wish list. Happy Halloween

Here are a few Halloween pictures. Dalton just sat on the front porch and scared people the whole night. He is not into going door to door. Morgan went out for probably less than an hour and came home to pass out candy at our door.
